Both Songlilai Trading Enterprise Pte Ltd and Junshin Sushi Pte Ltd have been certified by DNV under the MSC and ASC Chain of Custody (CoC) standard. The certifications were formally awarded to the two Singapore-based companies during a ceremony at Seafood Expo Asia, taking place in Singapore.

The Chain of Custody standard verifies that seafood products can be traced back to a certified sustainable source, either an MSC-certified fishery or an ASC-certified farm, and remain clearly identifiable throughout every step of the supply chain until they reach the consumer. This ensures transparency and trust in the sustainability of the seafood offered.
Songlilai, a wholesaler and processor of fresh and frozen seafood, and its subsidiary Junshin Sushi, a food caterer, primarily serve hotels and premium foodservice establishments. These customers increasingly demand certified sustainability credentials. The new certifications ensure that Songlilai and Junshin Sushi can meet these expectations and remain competitive in a market that values environmental responsibility and ethical practices.
“Traceability is fundamental to our operation. Certification ensures product integrity, strengthens sustainability and food safety, helps prevent fraud, and builds trust. In the hospitality sector, this ability to guarantee sourcing and respond quickly to concerns is essential,” Songlilai Trading Enterprise Director Chris Tan said.
The certification process has streamlined internal traceability systems and fostered a stronger culture of compliance and quality, from procurement to logistics.
“Certification helps us stand out in tenders and negotiations, especially with multinational hotel chains that prioritise sustainability. Our customers can be confident that the seafood they buy is traceable, responsibly sourced, and aligned with international standards. This helps them meet their own corporate sustainability goals and strengthens their brand image,” Tan said.
Additionally, stronger supply chain control reduces the likelihood of delivery errors or quality issues, contributing to smoother operations.
“With the MSC and ASC Chain of Custody certifications, Songlilai Trading Enterprise and Junshin Sushi have shown clear commitment to sustainable seafood sourcing and transparent supply chains. This positions them strongly in a market that increasingly values environmental responsible sourcing and trust,” DNV Area Manager Southeast Asia Silas Ding said.
“We chose DNV for their strong reputation in seafood certification and sustainability. Their global expertise, transparent auditing and practical guidance made the process constructive and aligned with our goals,” Tan said.
