Norway exported seafood worth €1.41 billion in October, the highest value ever in a single month and an increase of 27% over the same period last year.
This surpasses the previous record set in September 2022 by €70.78 million.

“Norwegian seafood exports experienced historical growth in October,” said Christian Chramer, chief executive of the Norwegian Seafood Council.
“On 25 October, we passed the export value for the record year 2021.These are enormous numbers and show how vital this industry is to Norway,” he added.
Record export values of a number of species have been achieved, namely salmon, cod, pollock, trout, haddock and prawns. However, Christian Chramer sounds a note of caution, citing high food inflation and falling consumer demand as challenges for the industry.
“Expectations of a significantly weaker economic development, therefore, cast a shadow over the outlook going forward,” he said.
