The Global Tuna Alliance (GTA) has unveiled its new five-year strategy at the Seafood Expo North America in Boston.

The 2025-2030 roadmap, designed with input from over 40 global partners, seeks to ensure the health and resilience of tuna fisheries through responsible supply chains and best-practice management.

The GTA has launched its 2025-2030 strategy to promote sustainable, transparent tuna fishing across the world

“The evolution of our partnerships has created a need for a renewed and focused strategy,” said Daniel Suddaby, GTA executive director.

“With a bigger and more ambitious coalition, we must ensure our collective energy translates into even greater impact. This strategy provides that focus, offering clarity, purpose and a unified path forward.”

The new roadmap builds upon the GTA’s past successes and focuses on three pillars: Blue Resilience (science-based management), Blue Community (worker and community rights), and Blue Integrity (supply chain traceability).

As consumers demand higher sustainability standards, the strategy offers a flexible framework for companies of all sizes, from small-scale fleets to large industrial operators, to contribute to the protection of global tuna resources. Working across six continents, the GTA plans to hold partners accountable through annual reports and independent verifications.

The GTA, representing global retailers, processors and suppliers such as Aldi, Carrefour, and Tesco, continues to expand its influence, particularly in Japan, and plans to intensify labour rights advocacy and US market engagement in the coming years.
