The General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has launched a scientific database on Black Sea fisheries.

The platform which was created collaboratively within the BlackSea4Fish project, will act as a research hub and will bring together scientists, students, administrators and members of the public interested in fisheries-related topics.
According to GFCM, the platform reflects the diversity of the region, with contributions from more than 100 researchers from six Black Sea countries. It provides opportunities for networking and collaboration between scientists, universities and research centres in Black Sea countries as well as access to publications relevant to the field.
The database is accessible at the following link: https://www.fao.org/gfcm/activities/fisheries/cooperation/blacksea4fish/en/
BlackSea4Fish was established in 2016 to contribute to the sustainable management of Black Sea fisheries, by providing scientific and technical support to the work of the GFCM in the region, coordinating priority activities of the GFCM Subregional Group on Stock Assessment in the Black Sea (SGSABS) and the Working Group on the Black Sea (WGBS).
The project involves Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine and the European Union, supporting them in fulfilling their objectives with regards to Black Sea fisheries, organising activities in line with agreed workplans and in turn benefiting from their technical and, as appropriate, financial/in-kind contributions.
