The UK’s National Fish & Chip Awards has secured a major entertainment coup for its 2026 ceremony, announcing actor and presenter Stephen Mangan as host of the industry’s flagship event.

Mangan – known for his roles in Green Wing, The Split, and the Sky Arts series Portrait Artist of the Year, as well as his Classic FM radio show — will front the 38th annual awards on 25 February 2026 at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
Andrew Crook, President of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), said Mangan’s mix of humour, energy, and broad public appeal made him an ideal fit for the sector’s most high-profile celebration.
“Stephen has the perfect balance of enthusiasm and positivity, as well as being incredibly funny,” Crook said. “With so many exceptional finalists across every category, he’ll be a great hit with the audience.”
Supported by principal sponsor Seafood from Norway, the awards are recognised as the UK’s most rigorous competition for fish and chip businesses, judged through a multi-stage process examining quality, sustainability, operational standards, training, and customer experience.
This year’s ceremony features 14 categories, including Takeaway of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Environment and Sustainable Business, Young Fish Frier of the Year, and the newly-introduced Menu Innovation award – reflecting how chippies are evolving amid shifting consumer expectations and sustainability demands.
Crook added that securing a high-calibre host underscores the awards’ growing profile: “The National Fish & Chip Awards remains the gold standard for excellence in our industry. Every finalist has already proven they operate at the very top of their game. Stephen’s presence will make the day even more special,” he said.
