Grupo Profand has acquired a majority stake in the Greek corporation Kefalonia Fisheries.

The addition of Kefalonia Fisheries to Profand’s family boosts the company’s presence in aquaculture production, specifically in sea bream and sea bass.

“Thanks to this addition we strengthen our position within the sea bream, sea bass and corvina families, being able to control all the stages of the production process,” commented Enrique Garcia, chief executive of Grupo Profand.

The Greek company is fully vertically integrated with 150 employees working across four fish farms, two packaging plants and a hatchery for the production of eggs and smolts. They will join the more than 2,500 employees currently working for Profand.

“Kefalonia Fisheries joining the Profand family will allow us to strengthen our presence in the international market and continue the dynamic growth of the company with a wider product range,” said Lara Barazi-Geroulanou, chief executive of Kefalonia Fisheries.
