She said there was ‘no drama’ behind her decision to resign. “I have had six fantastic and exciting years with the Norwegian Seafood Council. I have had the privilege to work with a competent and adaptable organisation that I will miss. There is a time for everything, and it feels that the time is right for me to do something else,” she said.

The news was communicated to board chair, Marianne E Johnsen, and all employees were then informed at a general meeting last Friday (25 February). Ms Johnsen expressed regret at the decision and praised Ms Larsen for her contribution.

“I had hoped to keep Renate Larsen for a while longer, but at the same time understand that there is a time for everything and that she now wants to explore other possibilities,” said Ms Johnsen. “I have greatly appreciated Renate as a person, her professionalism, security and leadership skills,” she added.

Renate Larsen has a master’s degree in economics from the Norwegian School of Management, specialising in strategy, organisation and management. She took over as chief executive of the Seafood Council in 2016.

“In the six years Renate Larsen and I have worked together, a lot has changed,” said Ms Johnsen. “Among other things, we have put in place a new strategy and implemented a major reorganisation and streamlining of the organisation.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Renate Larsen for her efforts. She leaves a legacy and will be missed,” she concluded.
