Located in the heart of Idaho’s so called “Magic Valley” – a hub for agriculture and aquaculture – Rangen Aquaculture Nutrition’s Buhl feed mill has become the first in the United States to achieve ASC Feed Certification. The mill is certified to produce feed for freshwater trout, salmon, seriola and cobia, shrimp and tilapia.

“Rangen achieving the first ASC Feed Certification in the United States is a significant step for the US. aquaculture sector,” ASC Feed Engagement Manager Aisla Jones said. “This certification demonstrates a trailblazing step forward in responsible sourcing and production. By embedding sustainability at the very start of the aquaculture value chain, Rangen is helping to build a more transparent and trusted seafood industry for the future.”
Carrington Gorman, Director of Aquaculture at Rangen Inc said ASC certification is a key part of its commitment to deliver nutritionally rich solutions from hatch to harvest.
“Rangen brings decades of expertise to specialty aquaculture with a focus on strict specifications and quality control standards. Demonstrating alignment with the ASC Feed Standard makes Rangen an industry leader for American feed companies, showing we’ve met the world’s strictest standards to deliver an exceptional product that’s not only nutritious for animals, but sustainable for the environment.”
The ASC Feed Standard ensures that ingredients used in feed are responsibly sourced and produced. From 31 October 2025, ASC-certified farms are required to use ASC-conforming feed from certified mills.
According to ASC, Rangen’s certification demonstrates the growing momentum of sustainable aquaculture and ASC recognition in the United States, reinforcing the country’s potential to lead in responsible seafood production and supply chain integrity at the global level.
