Norway-based Redox has agreed to acquire Filtra in a move designed to strengthen its expertise in water treatment and purification technologies for the aquaculture and maritime industries.

Redox, a supplier of oxygen and water treatment systems for fish farming, said the acquisition would reinforce its core competence in water filtration while broadening its portfolio of technologies aimed at improving fish welfare, biosecurity and operational sustainability.

“Filtra is a unique centre of excellence for filtration solutions,” said Asbjørn Skaro, chief executive of Redox. “Bringing Filtra into the Redox family enables us to offer fish farmers, the maritime sector and other industries an even more comprehensive portfolio of products and services.”

Filtra supplies a range of products for the treatment of air, water and industrial fluids, including UV disinfection systems, reverse osmosis units, automatic filters and chemical dosing systems. The company has built a strong presence in aquaculture and maritime markets through technologies focused on particle removal and the neutralisation of bacteria and microorganisms.

Founded in 2006 by Osvald Ringstad, Filtra is headquartered in Skodje, near Ålesund in Norway’s Møre and Romsdal county. Ringstad will remain with the company until September 2026 before transitioning into a consultancy role.

“After 20 years with Filtra, it is with both pride and a sense of sentiment that I prepare the company for its next chapter,” Ringstad said. “We share a philosophy of developing innovative solutions in close collaboration with our customers.”

Filtra will continue operating as a separate company with its existing nine employees. Redox said it plans to expand the service footprint established by Filtra along the Norwegian coast to deliver broader maintenance and support services.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Filtra reported revenues of approximately NOK37 million (€3.44 million) in 2025.
