Glyvrar-based aquaculture company Bakkafrost has signed a new agreement with the Faroese Football Association (FSF) ensuring that the company will continue as the main sponsor of the Faroese men’s national football team for another four years.

The partnership, which has already been in place for several years, will see Bakkafrost remain the main sponsor of the men’s national football team through 2028.
“We see great value in the Faroese national football team, which we also believe is an excellent representative for the Faroe Islands. Therefore, we wish to continue the good collaboration that has existed between the parties since 2012,” Bakkafrost CEO Regin Jacobsen said.
FSF President Christian Andreasen commented: “Bakkafrost is among the world’s leading aquaculture companies, headquartered in the Faroe Islands, and it is gratifying that a company like Bakkafrost sees development potential in the men’s national team while also wishing to support the tremendous work being done on and around the team.”
The Faroese men’s national team – nicknamed ”Landsliðið” – will soon begin preparations for the qualification matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It is placed in Group L, alongside France or Croatia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro and Gibraltar.
The first match will be played on 22 March against the Czech Republic.
