Brittany, France-based trawl door manufacturer Morgère has begun promoting its range of doors for smaller, under 15-metre vessels across the Channel, saying they are well suited to parts of the UK and Irish fishing fleets and the fisheries they are involved in.
While Morgère acknowledges that it is probably best-known in the UK and Ireland for its trawl doors for larger demersal vessels, it highlights that doors such as its Exocet and Osprey can be scaled-down for smaller boats, and that it also supplies large numbers of its Polyfoil doors to under 15-metre craft in the French fleet.
“Our trawl doors for smaller vessels in the French fleet have a proven track record for their durability, strength, ease of handling and performance, and we are keen for UK and Irish skippers to become aware of the benefits they offer,” Morgère Managing Director, Pascal Reverseau, said.
Reverseau added, “Our company has 120 years of experience in developing and manufacturing high quality trawl doors, and the products we produce are well-suited for the fisheries encountered by smaller trawlers in the UK and Ireland.”
Morgère recently relocated from its historic base in Saint Malo to a new 2,500-square metre purpose-built manufacturing facility in nearby Miniac-Morvan. Amongst other things, the move is intended to help the company’s engineers to utilise the latest production techniques.
