Designed to build on the company’s reputation for precision and performance in wireless trawl sensors, the new Pro NX sensor platform aims to deliver even sharper results, with a line of upgraded door, trawl, speed, seine and catch sensors.

Marport’s Pro NX line is more compact, programmable and efficient

There’s a new sensor design at the core of Marport’s Pro NX line, which is now more compact, programmable and field-efficient. Catch Pro NX housings now come with a quick-release mechanism that allows the sensor to be removed from its housing for charging, while the housing itself remains secured to the gear – reducing handling time and operational downtime.

Marport’s engineers have been able to extend battery life to close to double that of older models, extending operational use and reducing recharge frequency, while all of the Pro NX sensors are fully compatible with Marport’s Dock Charger. This can simultaneously charge up to four sensors, while also supporting real-time monitoring, configuration, and software updates during charging.

“With the new Pro NX line, we’ve not only redesigned the hardware for crew convenience, but we’ve also improved software performance for skippers,’ Marport Product Manager Stéphane Le Guyader said. “By adjusting sonar bandwidth, sonar frequencies and ping rate, we’ve significantly increased echogram resolution for clearer visualisation of fish targets and seafloor details in our SCALA software.”

The range of Pro NX sensors already available includes the Catch Pro NX, an enhanced, cost-effective catch sensor for monitoring the codend. As a lightweight alternative to the Catch Explorer, this offers dual-frequency support and SCALA software compatibility, but does not include echogram visualisation.

Also on the market are the Catch Explorer Pro NX, a high-performance sensor that provides real-time data on trawl status, depth, temperature, and net movement (pitch and roll), along with echogram imaging, the Catch Navigator Pro NX, Marport’s highest-resolution net sounder designed for placement in the trawl tunnel, and the Trawl Navigator Pro NX and Trawl Explorer Pro NX featuring the improved echogram resolution plus a newly designed hydrodynamic housings that are more suitable for tunnel installation.

The Door Spread Sensor and Door Explorer Pro NX have new housing designs, enabling easier installation in the pocket and a more robust constructon to withstand shock and vibration.

The Seine Sensor Pro NX and Flow Sensor Pro NX are due to become available later in 2025 and in 2026.
