Octaform debuts at IceFish

Globally recognised as a leader in stay-in-place formwork and liner systems, the company has expanded its expertise into aquaculture, providing tank solutions engineered to create optimal conditions for fish growth while improving operational efficiency.

Octaform has already established a presence in Iceland’s aquaculture sector through projects with Arnarlax and First Water. For Arnarlax, the company supplied four octagonal smolt tanks measuring 12 metres in diameter and four metres in height. The tanks were designed with rounded corners featuring a 600mm radius to improve water circulation, enhance fish health and reduce areas where waste can accumulate.

The company also played a key role in the Phase 1 development of First Water, supplying multiple tanks constructed in parallel while incorporating critical system features such as pipe penetrations and access points. The tanks were equipped with Octaform’s smooth PVC liner, designed to improve durability, simplify cleaning and reduce maintenance requirements.

“Our adaptable system proved essential in supporting First Water’s innovative approach, ensuring both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility in one of Iceland’s most ambitious aquaculture projects to date,” said the company.

The company’s patented system can be integrated into a wide range of aquaculture facilities, from simple grow-out tanks to highly complex recirculating aquaculture systems. According to Octaform, the technology can be assembled quickly without specialised labour or heavy equipment and is unique in its ability to form and protect tank walls in a single installation step.

By eliminating the need for separate liners, cladding or sealants, the system offers a streamlined approach to tank construction while supporting long-term durability and performance.
