Cflow has won a deal with Salmon Evolution, the world’s largest land-based fish farming facility, for its second phase build-out at Indre Harøy, Norway.
Under the agreement, Cflow will provide fish handling solutions that prioritise optimal animal welfare and sustainable production of Atlantic salmon. Key components will include logistics systems to manage fish movement between the facility’s pools.

“We have worked hard to prepare next generation’s fish welfare for land-based aquaculture. Salmon Evolution can already demonstrate highly impressive biological results, but our joint ambition is to further improve both animal welfare and their commercial results,” said Gunnar Hoff, chief marketing officer at Cflow.
“We have turned every stone and employed our best biologists and engineers to develop a very gentle fish handling system.”
All equipment, including piping, valves and pumps, will be manufactured at Cflow’s facility in Langevåg, near Ålesund, with commissioning set for the Indre Harøy site. Design and engineering work has already begun, with equipment deliveries expected to start in early 2025 and continue into 2026.
While the financial details of the contract remain undisclosed, Cflow emphasises its strategic significance. This contract follows Cflow’s role in the ongoing build-out at Andfjord Salmon in Andøya, further enhancing its impact on Norway’s land-based aquaculture sector.
“Both Salmon Evolution and Andfjord Salmon have achieved industry-leading biological results, with good fish health, low mortality levels, and high superior share,” continued Hoff.
On completion, Salmon Evolution aims to boost its production capacity by 10,100 tonnes HOG, raising its total planned output to 18,000 tonnes annually. Both companies have secured the necessary aquaculture licences, unaffected by recent halts in new licence awards.
“Updated regulations for land-based aquaculture in Norway are finally on the way, so we are seeing that things are starting to move in this market,” said Hoff.
