Turkish shipbuilder Tersan Shipyard has delivered the advanced fishing vessel Leinebris (NB1116) to Norwegian owner Leinebris AS, marking a significant step forward in multi-gear capability and low-emission vessel design for the fisheries sector.

Built at Tersan’s Yalova yard and designed by Skipsteknisk, the 67.3-metre vessel is the second Leinebris constructed for the Norwegian family company, following the original newbuild delivered in 2015. This latest version raises the bar on both flexibility and environmental performance.
Most notably, Leinebris is the first fishing vessel ever designed to combine three distinct fishing methods — longlining, seining and net fishing — allowing the skipper to choose the most efficient and environmentally appropriate gear depending on conditions and quotas. It is also the longest longliner built to date.
The vessel has a beam of 15 metres and is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system, supported by a large battery pack and three diesel-electric generator sets. Fully electric deck machinery and winches enable more efficient energy use, while also helping to reduce emissions and noise during operations.
Manoeuvrability and redundancy are provided by PUAU115 azimuth thrusters and an AR63 retractable azimuth combi thruster. The steering and positioning setup includes BrunCon PTC and BrunCon JS with Position Hold, complemented by the Brunvoll Fishpilot system.
“Handing over the new Leinebris to Leinebris AS is a source of immense pride for us,” said Mehmet Gazioğlu, Managing Director of Tersan Shipyard. “Having constructed the first Leinebris more than a decade ago, it is truly rewarding to once again strengthen their fleet with such a pioneering and sustainable vessel.”
The vessel is equipped with RSW tanks, allowing live fish transport and helping preserve catch quality. Double cargo decks, sheltered working areas and a moonpool have been incorporated to improve safety and efficiency on deck, while accommodation for up to 25 crew is described as spacious and contemporary by industry standards.
Leinebris CEO Paul Harald Leinebø welcomed the delivery, saying the company is eager to put the vessel to work in Norwegian waters. “We want to thank Tersan Shipyard and all our good partners who trusted us and made this possible. We are really looking forward to bringing our fantastic newbuild home to Norway and start fishing for the future.”
Founded in 1898 and based in Fosnavåg, Leinebris AS is one of Norway’s leading longline operators, specialising in sustainable fishing in the Northeast Atlantic. The company supplies MSC-certified frozen-at-sea cod and haddock, processed onboard for premium quality.
For Tersan, the delivery reinforces its position as a major supplier of advanced fishing vessels to Northern Europe. The group has delivered more than 150 vessels and has built a strong reputation for battery-hybrid and alternative-fuel designs, earning recognition as Turkey’s leading shipbuilding exporter for much of the past decade.
