Inmarsat Maritime has teamed up with Parlevliet & van der Plas (PP) Group to install Inmarsat’s NexusWave connectivity solution on 12 of PP Group’s factory trawlers.
NexusWave offers unlimited data with global coverage, enabling crew members to stay connected with family and friends regardless of where the vessels operate.

“NexusWave’s impressive speeds will facilitate our compliance with government legislations,” said Peter Remmelzwaal, IT director at PP Group.
“At the same time, our commitment to crew welfare remains steadfast, and the ability of NexusWave to provide personnel with unlimited data while they serve at sea is a significant advantage.”
Beyond enhancing crew welfare, the connectivity boost is key for PP Group’s compliance with upcoming fisheries monitoring regulations. From early 2026, large trawlers operating in Scottish waters must provide CCTV footage to verify sustainable fishing practices.
NexusWave’s high-speed capabilities, with real-world tests reportedly showing download speeds of 330–340 Mbps and upload speeds of 70–80 Mbps, will help PP Group meet these requirements.
“PP Group puts crew at the heart of its operations, demonstrated by installing NexusWave across its fleet,” commented Cas Stoop, sales manager at Inmarsat Maritime.
“The home-like internet experience, combined with enterprise-grade cybersecurity and global coverage, gives them the connected confidence they need as operations and compliance grow more complex.”
Inmarsat, a Viasat company, plans to further enhance NexusWave by integrating the next-generation ViaSat-3 Ka-band network, promising even higher speeds and better service in the future.
