Norwegian shipowner Gudmund Fjortoft and Jorge Lores from Eurored have open a new company in the harbour of the Fjortoft Island in the Northwest of Norway, to supply fishing gear and equipment. The new company, Traalnett, which has a warehouse of 1000m2 and a total area of 5,000m2, is situated in the harbour of the Fjortoft Island, next to the ice factory and oil supply operated by Gudmund Fjortoft. Traalnett will be selling new materials for Norway like the wire OrcaRed. He told World Fishing: "The exhibition went really well. We made a lot of contacts and closed deals. There has been a lot of interest from captains and shipowners on the new company.
"They were happy to see new materials. People liked Orca Red and we think is going to have a good response as the wire has already a very good reputation worldwide."
Gudmund Fjortoft, that operates the stern trawler Broegg, holds the third oldest fishing licence in Norway given to his grandfather in 1934. Today, this is the oldest licence in use in the country. Asked about the state of the Norwegian fishing, he said: "It will continue as before, several decades ahead other contries' fishing industry. The resources are positive and there is a good regulation administrated by the Norwegian Government."
