For the past twenty years, Pacific Ocean Producers has equipped over 400 fishing vessels with Lindgren-Pitman Monofilament Longline Systems - Pacific Ocean Producers wouldn''t trust their own fleet of fishing vessels to any other monofilament longline system.
Lindgren-Pitman is the industry leader in monofilament longline technology. Lindgren-Pitman manufactured their first monofilament longline reels in 1976, though they actually started manufacturing commercial reels in 1972. L-P along with Pacific Ocean Producers stimulated the commercial fishing industry and took it by storm with their highly engineered monofilament longline reels.
L-P reels have long been the standard in longline fishing technology and are known for their strength and reliability. L-P is very proactive in innovations and rigid and rigorous research.
Its most recent innovation is the new Super Spool III Longline Reel.
The Best Gets Better
The Super Spool III is made with Generation III technology. Super Spool III Longline reels have been researched and tested in the laboratory and out in the field on commercial fishing vessels by fishermen with over 25 years of experience.
Generation III technology consists of a new patented spool design that completely eliminates welding where the end plates meet the core.
This allows for larger core diameters that dramatically reduce monofilament distortion on bottom layers while improving line setting characteristics.
The spool and frame are of heavier construction than the Super Spool II, while many of the high quality features of the Super Spool II are maintained.
The Super Spool III Series
Lindgren-Pitman's extensive laboratory testing revealed a core of 22 inches reduces the load by 40%.
The new Super Spool III series of longline reels all boast a 22-inch core and are 40 inches in diameter, with the exception of L-P's 48"X 80" longline reel. A 22-inch core is 80% larger than most other reel cores on the market today.
The larger core requires lower spool revolutions per minute and lowered hydraulic flow requirements.
It also provides smoother hauling and setting on the lower portion of the stack. The Super Spool III is available in four sizes, 40" X 48", 40" X 60", 40" X 80" and 48" X 80" (diameter times length, respectively).
The Complete Package
The Super Spool III can be provided with the LS-3 or LS-4 Line Setter and the easy to install Lindgren-Pitman Custom Hydraulic Systems.
A radial piston motor with a 20 cubic inch displacement powers the 48" X 80" Super Spool III reel. The 48" X 80" reel has a capacity of 70 nautical miles of 3.6 mm monofilament and is an ideal choice for fishery owners stepping up to vessels in the 90-foot plus category. The 40" X 80" reels hold 55 miles of 3.6 monofilament.
Super Spool III Eradicates Monofilament Failure
The new Super Spool III series resolves two common causes of monofilament failure; an excess compression load under high tension on the bottom layer of deeply stacked spools and strength reducing deformation of the line by the weld joining core and end plates.
The large core eliminates excess compression loads caused by deep stacking. End plates and cores are joined with innovative, patent-pending technology that eliminates the welds.
