Local, international seafood companies and their service suppliers are doing their bit to help families in need in Massachusetts, USA.

Gloucester residents will receive $34,000 in funding made available through the Catholic Charities North Fishing Community Fund, which this year included donations from more than 30 companies and individuals, up by 25% on last year.

Major donors included the Sailor’s Snug Harbor, American Seafoods Group, LLC, Arista Industries, Bama Seafood Products, CB Richard Ellis, Elite Seafood, Espersen, Hai Yang International, High Liner Foods, Jeffrey Kaneb, National Development, National Fish & Seafood, and Northern Marine.

Other supporters included American Refrigeration, Catania-Spagna Corporation, Eastern Fish, Yuval Gattegno, Harbor Seafoods, Ipswich Shellfish, Label Print America, Marine Stewardship Council, Old Neighborhood and Preferred Freezer Services.

The organisation will now be able to provide essential services including emergency food, housing, fuel and utility assistance to the poor and working poor.
