New research is being released that examines customer attitudes towards culinary preparation of seafood.

Findings indicate that many consumers simply don’t know how to buy and prepare seafood at home, with further confusion surrounding health benefits. This all adds to less consumption.

The research by Virginia Tech’s Department of Food Science and Technology and sponsored by America's Seafood Industry Research Fund (SIRF) has been used in the development of educational videos to address barriers in purchasing seafood.

SIRF was established in 1964 to fund grants to educational institutions for rseearch related to the seafood industry and its consumers.
