Nauta Shiprepair Yard in Gdansk has launched a partly outfitted pelagic trawler bound for operations in the Shetland Islands.
Serene is one of the largest fishing trawlers currently being built in Nauta Shipyard measuring in at 82m long and over 17m wide with a draft is 5.9m.
Multiple vessels
The vessel is the eleventh built for the Danish client, Karstensens Skibsvaerft AS, but will be operated by Shetland Islands based Serene Fishing Company Ltd when it’s completed.
Serene will have the class notation DnV + 1A1 Fishing Vessel Ice E0 TMON. It will be powered by a MAN 12VL32/44 CR engine and will be equipped with two MAN21/32 1250 kWe auxiliary engines and propelled with a d4500mm, Scana Volda propeller plant.
The vessel will be kitted-out with KarmøyWinch deck equipment and its RSW-PLANT will be supplied by Johnson Controls 2 x1471 kW.
Serene's Vacuum system will be an Iras, 4 x66 kW/ 2x4200 l tank.
In 2017, Nauta Shipyard launched five fishing vessels and seven new units of this type are planned for delivery in 2018.
The units are bound for operations in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.
Meanwhile, Serene is set for handover to its new owner in June 2018.
Nauta specialises in building modern fishing vessels, but another important area of the activity of shipyard’s newbuilding division is construction of research units and offshore service vessels.
The company has recently signed important contracts for a newbuild special purpose Signal Intelligence vessel for the Swedish Navy and a submarine supply/rescue vessel for the Polish Navy.
