The Tersan Shipyard in Turkey has launched its first crabbing vessel for Russian fishing operator Arktikservice to fish for Kamchatka and snow crab in North Atlantic waters.

The 61.90 metre, 15 metre beam Zenit is the lead vessel in a planned series and now being fitted out following its launch. The keel was laid at the Tersan yard in September. It is designed to have a 1150m3 refrigerated storage capacity, and a processing deck capable of cooking and processing 60 tonnes of Kamchatka crab per day to produce 40 tonnes of frozen product, or 30 tonnes of snow crab for 20 tonnes of production.

Zenit has a 2555kW main engine capable of delivering an 11-knot speed, 940kW and 360kW generators and a 1700kW shaft generator, as well as bow and stern thrusters.

The accommodation deck has single and double cabins for a crew of up to 38.
