AKVA group has been awarded a contract for the supply of Wavemaster steel cages to Marine Harvest in Scotland. This will involve delivering completed cage groups in October 2009 and early 2010.

The agreement also includes delivery of future requirements of the latest type Wavemaster EX-24 steel cages as existing units are being replaced. The initial contract is valued at around 12m NOK.

AKVA group has worked closely with Marine Harvest for some time now to ensure the product specification met its exact needs. Wavemaster has a proven track record with installations of more than 7500 cages at a wide range of sites and in many different climates around the world.

"This contract with Marine Harvest is a result of a thorough pre-project analysis of requirements together with the customer", says AKVA group's CMO, Trond Severinsen. "We were in strong competition with other suppliers in the market, but the unique and proven Wavemaster cage design, custom solutions and local service track record seem to have made the difference in our favour".

Alan Sutherland, Managing Director of Marine Harvest Scotland commented "We felt that the specifications of the new EX-24 cage were perfect for our application. It is a slightly more expensive design but the strength, performance and custom Marine Harvest standardisation features make it the best choice for us here in Scotland".
