Royal Greenland has taken delivery of the first of two new Skipsteknisk-designed factory trawlers from Astilleros de Murueta.
The two trawlers replace older vessels that have already been sold, and the second of the pair is due to be delivered towards the end of 2019.
The new Sisimiut has an overall length of 82 metres with a 17 metre breadth, equipped with three 514 kWe electric winches for twin-rig trawling.
Sisimiut is built as a filleter factory trawler expected to operate on roundfish. It has an 85 tonne per day freezing capacity in four automated freezers and seven freezing hotels. Catches are fully utilised, with heads, bones and offal processed for fishmeal and fish oil.
The upper 900 cubic metre and lower 850 cubic metre refrigerated fishrooms have capacity for more than 800 pallets of frozen seafood production. Two meal stores have a combined 510 cubic metre capacity.
Sisimiut’s power is delivered by an all-MAN propulsion system, with a 5400kW 9L32/44CR main engine driving a 4500mm controllable pitch propeller at 117rpm via an ACG980 gearbox with a 6.14:1 reduction. An AVK DSU 114M2-6W alternator doubles as an electric motor with PTO and PTI modes, as well as providing a PTH option. MAN also supplied the two 1254kWe MAN 6L21/31 generators, plus there is a 163kWe Caterpillar C7.1 emergency set. Bow and stern thrusters are 500kW Brunvoll FU63LTC1750 units.
