The Norwegian company Cflow has developed a new loading system for live cod/coalfish. The fish flow freely from trawls/nets or cages into the hold by way of underpressure. Therefore, the fish receive gentle handling.
Catching live cod has been an issue for some time, particularly in terms of ethics and fish health. "The principle advantage of this system is that the fish are hardly impacted at all by pressure changes during loading," says Cflow's design and sales manager Mr Asbjørn Rønneberg.
Due to the ideal hose dimensions, fish flow freely without being exposed to stress. The company is currently co-operating with Norwegian researchers and authorities to optimise system results.
