A $300,000 funding contribution has been awarded to Canada’s North Nova Seafoods Ltd through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) Business Development Program (BDP).
North Nova Seafoods is continuously reinvesting in the company to promote and sustain the organisation’s growth and prosperity. The repayable contribution from ACOA has enabled the company to purchase and install a new Laitram CoolSteam cooking system.
The new system replaces its outdated boiler unit, improving the consistency and quality of cooked food products. The acquisition of this new technology will reduce the environmental impact of fuel consumption, while increasing the productivity of the company.
“North Nova Seafoods Limited is poised to be a primary supplier of high quality seafood products, but must ensure that it is able to market its products in a highly competitive market place,” said Paul Logan, owner and president of North Nova Seafoods Ltd.
“To be a low cost, high quality producer, North Nova must continue to implement strong quality management processes in all areas of its operations. A step towards this was purchasing the Laitram Machinery CoolStream Cooking System. This system was designed to improve the profit per pound by reducing operating cost, maximising yield, improving product quality, and maximising throughput.”
