A turnkey contract with Mainstream Canada has been signed for the delivery of a complete UNI recirculation hatchery that will produce 1.2 million Atlantic salmon smolts annually. The system is the first of its kind in Canada, and is scheduled for start-up in February 2010.
The contract with Mainstream Canada is a result of an efficient collaboration between AKVA group Canada and the company Derk Enterprises that will complete the civil works.
AKVA group has more than 30 years of aquaculture engineering experience and having delivered systems globally for more than 15 different species, AKVA group provides optimal water quality conditions for both fresh and seawater operations.
"As a turnkey supplier to both land based and cage aquaculture operations, farming companies are able to focus on their production, while we ensure excellent system compatibility and integration from design to start-up", says AKVA group's CMO, Trond Severinsen. He adds, "Designing the optimal recirculation system is challenging. Nevertheless, we are able to guarantee that all water parameters are exactly as specified through never allowing any shortcuts in the design. This contract is yet another testimony that our customers recognise our state-of-the-art technology, and that AKVA group now has true turnkey capabilities".
