Norway-headquartered ship design firm Skipsteknisk is designing the Saputi II.

“We report that design work is nearing completion and we are extremely pleased with the results” stated Harry Flaherty, Qikiqtaaluk Corporation (QC) president and CEO.

Large capacity

Saputi II will be a multi-species factory freezer trawler measuring 79m x 17m, with carrying capacity of 800t of shrimp or 1,200t of Greenland halibut versus the Saputi with a carrying capacity of 600t of shrimp or 900t of Greenland halibut.

Olayuk Akesuk, chairman of QC, said: “Saputi II will increase overall harvests and production and reduce overall cost per ton of finished product…”

Established in 1976, Skipsteknisk designs specialised vessels with an emphasis on offshore research and fisheries.

Over the years vessels with the lowest possible emissions have been built to the company’s ST-designs for ship owners all over the world.
