Macduff Shipyards Limited has won an order for a 27.5m General Purpose Workboat for Inverlussa Marine Services, on the Island of Mull.

Macduff delivered and similar vessel in May 2012, and Inverlussa, the shipyard and Macduff Ship Design Limited have been working together to develop a modified version with more beam and extended accommodation to increase flexibility. Design work is being advanced for an early start to construction, following the plan approval process.

The vessel will operate fish farm service work, coastal cargo, civil engineering and renewable energy support and general towing work.

The triple screw shallow draft vessel will be capable of carrying 120 tonnes of deck cargo, and will also have a dry hold plus facilities for cargo fuel and water transfer.

A 146 tonne/metre combined knuckle telescopic deck crane will enhance the vessels varied capabilities, and propulsion will be provided by three 600HP Caterpillar engines.
