The vessel will trawl mostly for prawns (nethrops) but can also trawl for whitefish.

The new vessel is based on the family’s existing 21m Rebecca. Adam Tait asked the yard to develop a slightly longer vessel design incorporating a bigger propeller aperture to house a slower turning propeller, and to investigate designing-in further fuel economy to the hull shape.

Using the Rebecca design as a basis, the Shipyard developed this new model in collaboration with Macduff Ship Design Limited and the Polish Technical Institute CTO.

The resulting double chine hull form featuring a bulbous bow has a higher rise of floor than on Rebecca, with much finer aft lines.

Macduff Profilers, a division of Macduff Shipyards Limited, provided the steel kit from cutting information prepared by Macduff Ship Design Limited, and the complete vessel was fabricated, engineered and fitted out in Macduff.

The steel deckhouse is fitted rail to rail athwartships, and the steel shelterdeck is formed as an extension of the hull without a rail line. The shelterdeck forward of the net handling area is weathertight.

The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6R2-T2MPTK-3 rated 480KW at 1350RPM, with Reintjes WAF 374 reverse reduction gearbox with 7.091:1 reduction ratio, driving a 2300mm diameter 4 blade propeller by BT Marine Propellers Ltd housed in a fixed nozzle.

A Cummins QSL9 variable speed auxiliary engine, rated 285HP at 1800RPM, is fitted on the port side arranged to drive the hydraulic pumps for the deck machinery through a JBJ splitter box.

Two Beta Marine generator sets are fitted on the starboard side each based on a Cummins 6BT5.9 DIM engine and Mecc Alte alternator, each with an output of 58KW 415/3/50.

The deck machinery package includes a Macduff three drum trawl winch, two Macduff split net drums, and a Caledonian Hydraulics Gilson winch.
