Dutch company Maaskant Shipyards delivered the Geertruid-Adriana to Gebroeders H. en B. Marjis C.V. at Arnemuiden in January. The Dutch beam trawler fishes for bottom fish in the North Sea. In order to improve fish handling, a specially-designed system by Maaskant with conveyor belts, sorting and gutting lines has been fitted in the sheltered whaleback space with fish washer and chutes to the fish hold.
The vessel also has an AMACS alarm system. When there is an alarm during abandon ship, an SMS message is sent, as the alarm goes off, to the owner's mobile phone; if he does not answer, further messages are sent to other numbers until one is answered.
