A 60m freezer longliner will be delivered to Cap Bourbon at the end of this year.

The vessel is under construction at Piriou’s Vietnamese shipyard and has been designed by Skipsteknisk for austral fishing in the South Indian Ocean.
Cap Bourbon is a toothfish southern seas ship-owner, located in the Island of Reunion. The company is a branch of the Le Garrec Group.
This vessel is Piriou’s seventh austral longliner after the 55m series delivered in 2001, 2002 and 2009, including Cap Bourbon’s longliner Cap Horn I.
Jean Pierre Kinoo, general manager of Cap Bourbon said, “This vessel was designed from the experience acquired with Cap Horn I. Several goals were stated: Mainly to improve the security of the crew thanks to the use of a moon pool (for longline hauling); reduce the impact on the environment; improve energy efficiency with a diesel-electric propulsion (with semi rapid motors) and with high output azimuth propellers. With our crews and Skipsteknisk we designed an innovative and economical vessel that guarantees maximum reliability and security in accordance with the image of this model and well-managed fishery.”
Designed to operate in the Indian Ocean, especially in the Kerguelen and Crozet areas, this longliner benefits from diesel-electric propulsion to provide flexible energy management, simplified maintenance and fuel economies. It also has two azimuth propellers for better manoeuvrability, and moon pool system with central line hauling for crew security and better environmental protection.
