Leigh Habegger has taken over from Kevin Wheeler as executive director of Seafood Harvesters of America

Most recently Leigh Habegger served as the Senior Manager of External Affairs for Restore America's Estuaries. In this role, she advocated for policies that conserve estuaries and encourage the sustainable use of our natural resources. Previously, she worked as a lobbyist on fisheries and maritime policy, facilitated work related to highly migratory species, and served as a Knauss Fellow for Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (ME-01) covering oceans, coastal, and fisheries issues.

“Leigh brings strong fisheries policy experience, along with great energy and a solid understanding of our members and the issues they face,” said Seafood Harvesters President Chris Brown. “She’ll be an excellent addition to our team as we broaden the scope and scale of our policy work in coming years.”

The Seafood Harvesters represent 16 leading commercial fishing organizations whose members operate from the Bering Sea to the Gulf of Mexico and north to New England.
