Euronete says that it''s commitment to the fishing industry is “Leading in a competitive Sea” and, due to this commitment, the company is continuing to develop new products and improve the present product range.
Just recently, the Fishing Division and the Rope Division of the Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group have created a new centre of excellence in Maia, Portugal. The new centre will further the development of fundamental R&D, improve the present portfolio, and help customers use the right product for each application and develop these products even further.
Euronete has also bought the largest netting machine in the world for improving the quality of the present cod ends, weighing around 50 tons. The new loom can provide netting with fewer joinings and, at same time, produce all mesh sizes more accurately in the heavy twines, using the latest IT developments in the sector.
The new machine was made in Japan and is the first made of this model so far, developed jointly by the Japanese producer Toyo and Euronete engineers.
With this new machine Euronete intends to further develop the new single 8mm premium cod ends, that, due a special impregnation developed in house by the R&D services of the Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group, give better abrasion to the cod ends and also reduce sand penetration to a minimum. With that, the cod ends will last longer and the mesh size will stay more constant, due to less sand penetration.
These cod ends are very popular in Norway and USA.
Another area that Euronete's R&D people are presently working in is a new type of high tech rope to replace the fishing wire ropes. This new type of rope will be on trials soon and the company's intention is to help the fishing industry reduce fuel consumption while fishing more efficiently.
In January this year the Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group opened a distributing company in China to be near one of the largest growing markets in the world.
