At the DanFish exhibition in Aalborg in October, the new flexible grid from Carlsen Net gained great interest from fishermen all over the world.
Swedish and Norwegian fishermen, who use grids made from aluminium, showed great interest for this new material and several grids have already been delivered.
Carlsen Net says that this new material (the exact material is confidential, but is made from a composite of different types of plastic) is so flexible that it can ride along on the roller without any problems. Also, it is very easy to handle and ensures better working conditions for the fishermen. The material can work under condition from -30 to +150 degrees.
Until now Carlsen Net has produced two new models, one for lobster and one for shrimp. However the demand for other models is increasing. Carlsen Net is currently working with the company Ocean Prawns to develop a new grid for bigger shrimp trawlers. These grids will be 2x1.7m with 22mm rib distance.
Another of the advantages for this new material is that it allows the company to have a very short delivery time and Carlsen Net says it expects the price for the new grids to be very competitive.
