A new sales company called Ice Fresh Seafood has been set up for Samherji and is fully owned by the company. By establishing Ice Fresh Seafood, Samherji says that it is reinforcing its emphasis on sales activities and increasing the service both for suppliers and customers. In addition, the company will continue and increase sales for other producers.
In past, Samherji has been successful in marketing various seafood products globally. The company has been a big player in sales of frozen and fresh ground fish products on the British market and mainland Europe. There has been a lot of development in the sales of pelagic fish to East-Europe, including Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and Russia. The sales of farmed fish have been increasing on the European market and especially the American market. Asia has been, and will continue to be, one of the most important markets for the company's products.
It is expected that Ice Fresh Seafood will sell over 100,000 tonnes of producs over the next year and the turnover will be approx. EUR230 million.
The new company commenced trading on 1 July 2007 and invoices will be made out in the name of the new company from that time. Customers will not be aware of any other changes in relation to past dealings with Samherji.
