Ibercisa has delivered two winches to North American company Trident Seafoods for installation onboard the Kodiak Enterprise.
The two electrical trawl winches of 440Kw each have a stowage capacity of 2,000 metres of 35mm wire. The machines have a nominal pull of 57.8 tons on the first layer at a speed of 40m/min, which increases by 40% and 80% on pull and speed respectively. Both winches have electronically driven stowage.
Kodiak Enterprise is one of Trident Seafoods' three factory vessels and is an 80m trawler which operates in the Bering Sea and Aleutian islands catching Alaskan pollock and Pacific hake.
Trident Seafoods’ directors, Rick Brown and Mike Luchino, visited the Ibercisa factory earlier this year, where they explained the company's bid to improve the efficiency of their fleet and minimise negative environmental impact. They pointed out that the strategy of Trident Seafoods was to change their hydraulic deck systems over to electronically driven equipment, thereby improving efficiency, fuel costs and reducing the risk of environmental damages due to oil leakages and similar.
