The two day event is funded by Seafish and arranged by a partnership of organisations in the Humber Seafood Group. The event is of importance to the Humber region which is home to the main seafood cluster in the UK, with all major seafood companies based in the region. Over 70% of seafood consumed in the UK is processed by companies within the cluster.

This year’s event will bring together a panel of respected industry and Government speakers to address delegates from across Europe. The conference theme, ‘Reputation and Integrity’, will tackle discussions on fish authenticity, certification, fisheries future and the opportunities and challenges for seafood in a constrained world. The seafood industry will debate these topical issues to determine the best way forward for the sector in light of this year’s meat scandal.

Paul Williams, CEO of Seafish commented: “The Humber Seafood Summit is a crucial event in the annual calendar for the Grimsby area, which is home to the biggest seafood cluster in the UK. The cluster’s importance to the fishing industry has been further validated by the announcement that the World Seafood Congress has selected Grimsby to host the 2014 event.”
