UYK company Halyard has recently achieved a Lloyd''s Register Type Approval for two of its produsts that have been designed to reduce noise and vibration on board vessels.

Halyard's silicon exhaust hoses (pictured above left) and its GRP exhaust silencers were the products to be awared the approval. Bob Doyle, sales director at Halyard says: "Our customers need clear and independent verification provided by Lloyd's to prove our products meet extremely high standards."

The company is also launching a Sea Strainer alarm system. This product is designed to alert owners to a blockage in sea water flow to the engine. The sensor, according to the company, is so accurate that it will alarmimmediately if water flow is seriously impeded, but will not alarm unneccessarily.

This enables the skipper to shut down the engine immediately if there is a problem, buying time before damage takes place or the engine overheats. Halyard's Alert System is also available. It monitors engine exhaust temperature and provides a visual and audible alarm if the temperature rises.

The company also offers a Wavestream bilge filtration system.

It is designed to remove oil from bilge water allowing vessel owners to pump out bildges without fear of prosecution or harming the envirnment.

Wavestream uses a cylindrical cartridge filter fitting into the line between the bilge pump and through the hull outlet. The cartridge attracts theoil contant to bond to the filter element allowing the cartridge to hold up to three times its own weight in oil.

Halyard is the first company in the world to manufature entire marine exhaust systems in-house.

Wet or dry silencers and silencer separators can be purpose designed and built to fit specific vessels. These are fabricated from GRP or exotic materials according to the use required. Aquadrive, according to the company, is designed to reduce structure borne noise and vibration by up to 90% and overall noise levels by 75%. It also prevents shaft alignment problems.
