The 69.90 metre Magne Arvesen is built to a Kongsberg Maritime NVC 370 design with a 16 metre beam, and is built to operate in the north Atlantic, Barents Sea and Svalbard waters, with capacity for handling both groundfish and shrimp.

Magne Arvesen has a steel structure with an aluminium superstructure, and has accommodation for a crew of up to 29.

The highly automated Optimar factory deck has a groundfish processing line for producing head and gutted frozen whitefish, plus there is a shrimp processing line. Frozen catches are stored in the 1400m3 fishroom.

According to Gondan, the pandemic has presented challenges for the company and the yard, while significant efforts, careful co-ordination and implementation of necessary measures in compliance with government guidelines have made it possible to complete and deliver the new trawler, despite the difficulties faced during the build.
