Mr Lerøy will give a presentation titled ‘Leading the Blue Revolution’, which will investigate what it will take for Marine Harvest and the industry to meet the needs of increasingly educated consumers. Farmed salmon is about to take leadership role in seafood sales worldwide, as salmon fits in perfectly with many food-consumption trends, including an aging population, health consciousness, convenience and sushi, he said.

“As the world’s leading salmon producer, Marine Harvest aims to provide its customers all over the world with a delicious product with full traceability from broodstock to the plate. Transparency, scientific documentation and sophisticated standards of operations are all key elements in securing this success story in the future,” said Mr Lerøy.

Mr Lerøy’s presentation will kick off three days of presentations, discussions and meetings brimming with information and analysis on the farmed seafood value chain and responsible aquaculture.

Day 1 of GOAL 2013 will focus on production data for Atlantic salmon, shrimp, Pangasius, tilapia, mussels, and sea bass and sea bream, while Day 2 will focus on feed sustainability and aquaculture growth opportunities in the Middle East and Africa. Day 3 will focus on the marketplace, with many of the world’s leading retailers discussing the challenges and opportunities they face.

GOAL 2013 will take place at the Hotel Pullman Montparnasse in Paris, 7-10 October 2013.
