Gadus Poseidon is the first in a series of three similar vessels that the company has ordered from Vard Brattvaag. The vessel is 69.8m long and 15.6m wide and can accommodate 25 people.

As part of Havfisk’s on-going fleet renewal program, the company has recently signed a Letter of Intent with a Norwegian buyer for the sale of its oldest vessel Jergul, along with quota for fishing cod, haddock and saithe, and a cod trawler licence. The agreed purchase amount for vessel and quota is NOK33m, with the vessel being valued at NOK1m. The sale is subject to approval from Norwegian authorities, but is planned to take effect from 1 January 2014.

Havfisk owns 11 trawlers and is the largest fishing company in Norway. The company has around 11% of the total Norwegian cod quota.

The three new trawlers will replace older vessels, including Jergul and two vessels sold in 2012.

Gadus Poseidon will be operational in third quarter 2013 and will give the company increased catch capacity.
