The new Ilivileq built at Astilleros Armon in Spain has docked in Reykjavík. Originally ordered by HB Grandi before it became Brim, the trawler is owned by Brim’s subsidiary in Greenland.

Built to a Rolls-Royce design, Ilivileq is among the most sophisticated factory vessels in the North Atlantic region.

The 81.80 metre Ilivileq has a 17 metre beam and is powered by a 5400kW Bergen Diesel main engine. The design focuses heavily on energy saving, which includes a set of high-efficiency electric trawl winches.

The factory deck is fitted out with Vélfag filleting systems, production capacity is approximately 150 tonnes per day and the refrigerated fishroom has a 1000 tonne capacity.

Ilivileq was handed over last week in Spain to skipper Páll Thórir Rúnarsson and chief mate Guðmundur Kristján Guðmundsson, who brought the new trawler to Reykjavík.
