Seafood Industry Australia (SIA), the national peak body representing the Australian seafood industry, has welcomed Scott Morrison’s appointment as Prime Minister of Australia.

The organisation also thanked the Turnbull administration for its support of the industry.
“SIA would like to welcome our new Prime Minister Scott Morrison. We look forward to working alongside his ministry to promote Australia’s world-class seafood and fisheries,” SIA CEO Jane Lovell said.
“SIA also looks forward to working with Richard Colbeck, who has stepped back into the position of Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources,” she added.
“Senator Colbeck has a strong history with the fisheries portfolio and we look forward to ongoing discussions around SIA’s eight key priorities – improving community perception, mental health, safety, Country of Origin labelling in foodservice, biosecurity, resource access, oil and gas exploration, and maintaining the Fuel Tax Credit Scheme.”
Strong team
Ms Lovell said SIA welcomed Melissa Price to the position of Minister for the Environment, and thanked Josh Frydenberg for his work in establishing the Commonwealth Marine Park management plans.
She commended Anne Ruston for being a “great friend of the Australian seafood industry” during her time in the Assistant Minister position and said SIA would like to thank her for her support.
“There was no clearer demonstration of Assistant Minister Ruston’s determination to work for the commercial and recreational fishers of Australia than in the recent Marine Parks debate in the Senate,” she commented.
SIA look forward to continuing work alongside Minister Littleproud as Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, she stated, passing on the organisation’s thanks for the Minister’s continued support of Country of Origin Labelling in retail and exploration of the scheme in the foodservice sector.
