Norwegian composite specialist Brimer has secured a series of new land-based aquaculture contracts, reflecting rising demand for aquaculture equipment across Norway’s expanding fish farming sector.

The new projects span cod, halibut and salmon production, reinforcing Brimer’s position as a supplier of composite containment systems and engineered infrastructure throughout the aquaculture value chain.
“We are seeing strong market activity, with more producers investing in modern farming facilities that demand high operational reliability, long service life and low maintenance,” said Fredrik Ryslett, vice president sales & marketing, Brimer.
“Our projects now span cod, halibut and salmon, covering production stages from broodstock, smolt and post-smolt through to grow-out. At the same time, we see increasing demand for both land-based facilities and closed containment solutions at sea. This illustrates how the market is evolving and how widely composite technology can be applied.”
Strong performance
Brimer’s new contracts include a land-based cod facility for Ode/Lumarine, halibut developments for Sande Seafarm Production and Nordic Halibut, plus two undisclosed salmon projects. The agreements mark the company’s strongest period of activity to date in the aquaculture market.
The company’s latest deliveries cover a wide range of custom-engineered aquaculture equipment, including fish tanks, covered tanks, walkway systems, biofilters, pump sumps, CO₂ degassers, mortality bins, centre outlets and other specialised process equipment.
The projects support production stages ranging from broodstock and smolt to post-smolt and grow-out operations.
According to Mr Ryslett, demand is also increasing for both land-based facilities and closed containment solutions at sea, highlighting the expanding role of composite containment systems across modern fish farming. He said producers are seeking greater control over production environments while reducing emissions, biosecurity risks and environmental impact.
Brimer said composite materials offer corrosion-free performance, long service life and minimal maintenance, while prefabricated modular systems can reduce construction costs, shorten installation times and help facilities become operational more quickly.
The company believes demand for tailored composite solutions will continue to grow in Norway and international aquaculture markets.
