Young’s has continued the drive to increase the availability of sustainable seafood with the UK’s very first MSC scallops.

This is the 30th Young’s brand product to be made with MSC-approved fish – the company is already the UK’s leading MSC manufacturer overall with an 80% share of the MSC products currently available (brand and retailer own label).

The latest product offers naturally sweet Patagonian scallops, fished off the coast of Argentina. Simply caught and removed from their shells, they are individually frozen within 30 minutes of leaving the water to keep them at their freshest, preserving taste and texture. The scallops are raw, entirely natural and cook beautifully from frozen, with no shrinkage.

Marketing director, James Turton, says, “We are delighted to be able to introduce another MSC species to the UK market. These scallops are truly delicious, and as well as being sustainable are an excellent illustration of a wider Young’s initiative which we call ‘fishmonger of frozen.’ This aims to extend the range of top quality fish in a natural frozen format, and increase the accessibility of seafood for cooking at home.”

Further Young’s MSC launches are anticipated this summer.
