The President of the World Fishing Exhibition Executive Committee, Alfonso Paz-Andrade, made a final summary of the Exhibition, held in Vigo from 16-19 September. Mr Paz-Andrade, surrounded by the Executive Committee and the Regional Minister of the Sea, Rosa Quintana, expressed his satisfaction at the results of the event. He stated that he had the feeling of a “mission accomplished” and praised the high technological level of the exhibition, adding that this year’s show had broken all records for the number of professional international visitors to the event.

Mr Paz-Andrade was proud to announce the high level of satisfaction as reported by the exhibitors, as well as requests from the international pavilions to shorten the time between the World Fishing Exhibitions. In addition, the Exhibition was attended by exhibitors from more than 50 countries; among them Japan, the Falkland Islands, Indonesia, Taiwan and Russia, as well as visitors from 115 different states.

Rosa Quintana, Galician Regional Minister of the Sea, and Andrew Webster, Managing Director of World Trade Exhibitions (Technical Organiser of the WFE) also spoke about the Exhibition. Rosa Quintana emphasised the importance of the sea for Galicia and stated that 'Vigo has not only been Vigo, but the capital of the world fishing' adding that the World Fishing Exhibition had 'opened Galicia's doors to the whole world'. Andrew Webster applauded the work carried out by the team at the IFEVI, an opinion also shared by the President of the WFE Executive Committee, who described the World Fishing Exhibition as 'a truly international business'.
