The Western Australia Fishing Industry Council’s CEO Alex Ogg has resigned, although he will remain in his post for three months while his replacement is recruited.

“Alex has been with WAFIC in critical leadership positions for more than six years and most recently stepped up to fill the Chief Executive role just over a year ago. Throughout his time with WAFIC, Alex has led a number of significant initiatives and his industry knowledge and experience has been an invaluable asset for the WA industry,” said WAFIC chairman Murray Criddle.
He commented that over recent months, Alex Ogg has demonstrated his ability to lead through uncertainty and to engage the support of our key stakeholders, including the development of the much-needed COVID-19 financial assistance packages and recovery strategy which is directing our pathway forward.
“I would like to express my thanks to Alex for his hard work and dedication to WAFIC and the WA commercial seafood industry and wish him all the very best for the future,” he said.
“I understand that for some, this news may be unsettling. However, I want to assure you that the Board is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. I would like to thank Alex for his time with WAFIC and recognise the valuable work and commitment he has delivered during his time with the organisation.”
