The board of the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC) has announced the appointment of Darryl Hockey as WAFIC’s new CEO, and he has already stepped into his new role.

“Darryl’s appointment follows a competitive nationwide search that attracted a large number of executive applicants representing a cross-section of industries,” said WAFIC chairman Murray Criddle.
“The board is confident that Darryl’s mix of corporate, business and senior political advisor roles will serve the industry well as we continue to work our way through the impacts of COVID-19 and reshape to best meet the needs of members and position our industry as a key economic driver and regional development catalyst.”
He commented that Darryl Hockey is a passionate advocate of establishing strategic partnerships and has served on boards for major industry associations and regional development associations. He has been engaged in business development activities for companies across a range of industry sectors, with experience in defence, oil and gas, construction, agribusiness, mining, political advocacy, public affairs and media management, government approvals, stakeholder relations, communications and project development services.
“I trust you will all join me in working with Darryl to build a secure, strong, sustainable and united industry,” he said.
