Succorfish is rolling out an installation programme for Welsh scallop fleets and fishermen who are yet to have vessel monitoring technology fitted for the start of the new season.
From 1st November, all scallop fishing vessels operating inside Welsh waters are required to have vessel monitoring systems fitted, to ensure the accurate monitoring and frequent reporting of vessel movement in line with legislation.
Succorfish has been working closely with the Welsh Government over the past year to develop a sophisticated management tracking system, and is now assisting fishermen who still require monitoring units to be fitted before the deadline.
The low cost, high tech SC2 dual GSM and satellite communications system has been specifically designed for the marine industry and allows users to get to within two metres of protected zones and ‘open up’ previously ‘closed’ areas of water by providing greater access to fishing grounds.
The Succorfish SC2 vessel monitoring system uses both mobile phone and satellite technology as well as online tracking software to record the course and position of vessels every ten minutes. As vessels move out of range of a mobile signal, the SC2 automatically detects this and securely stores the data until reconnecting to a network.
Any fishermen wishing to have Succorfish units installed before the start of the scallop season on 1st November 2013 should contact at Succorfish Head Office on tel: +44 (0) 191 447 6883 or email: marketing@succorfish.com.
